“Patience” is a one-layer mixed media block print by artist Liam Jackson, created in 2023 and printed on soft, natural mulberry paper.

This piece reflects on duality — the light and the dark, the calm and the storm, the inner and the outer. The skull is split between opposing sides, a visual metaphor for the struggle to develop patience in a chaotic world. As Liam notes, “If you want patience, you’re not given patience — you’re given opportunities to practice it.” The piece is a mirror for those moments of frustration, growth, and the space between what we feel and how we act.

Rendered in black and white, the composition blends hand-carved block printing with a subtle mixed media approach, using texture and contrast to emphasize emotional weight.
